Schedule

All classes are held at the Castle Shannon (PA) Library, 3677 Myrtle Ave. Courses cost $5 per class day, i.e per session. Call the library at 412.563.4552 for specific course pricing and to register. Unless otherwise noted all classes begin at 10:15 am and end at 12:15 pm. Classes marked as BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) may be held downstairs (park in lower lot) or at the tables at the back of the main floor. Those not marked BYOD are all held upstairs (park along the side of the library).

After teaching Outlook.com for email the past few years, we have switched back to Google’s Gmail. Both mail programs have their pros and cons, but Gmail is better supported by Oasis.

The Gmail class is computer browser-based yet many people now get their email on their phones, tablets and apps such as the Windows 10 Mail app. We will cover using Gmail on Apple and Android mobile devices as we go. If you have a smartphone or tablet, bring it/them with you.

The iPad class will also include the iPhone and so is really an iOS 10 class. For this term, we have reduced the sessions from 10 back to 9 and will integrate the iPhone into the curriculum as we go.

An Introduction to Digital Photography was a hit last term and so we have scheduled it again. Be sure to bring your camera, phone, etc along with the specific cables you got to connect them to a computer.

Mike Weis will be the primary instructor for digital photography and iOS 10.

Intro to Computers is still one of the classes most in demand. We have scheduled it twice this term.

Also back after a one-term hiatus is Facebook, now scheduled for 5 days instead of 6.

Also back is Word Online and we will be teaching Excel Online again as well. Find out what these powerful and free programs can do for you, and get a OneDrive free cloud account too. Each course is 3 days and we are running them back-to-back.

Please remember that the library only has 6 computers where we teach the classes. Register early so that you don’t get left out.

Also note: We do not teach one-on-one classes. The minimum is two students in a class, so if you want to be sure that the class you want to take is not cancelled, talk a friend into taking the class with you.

For a description of all of the courses below (and of all Oasis courses), see the Oasis page or the links on the right-hand side of this page.
